DNA Project

Begun in 2004, the Corson DNA project determined by 2007 that nearly all of the Corson families distinguished in Three Hundred Years with the Corson Families in America (Orville Corson, 1939) were genetically unrelated in the male line. Since then, the project has identified the common ancestry of many Coursons/Courseys in the southern U.S. (Division XV), determined the Division of descent of individuals with "brick-wall" Corson ancestors, and, conversely, discovered that some Corson ancestors did not descend from their documented Division. Current efforts focus on identifying the geocultural origins of Division progenitors. More information is available on the project's website.
